Week 20: Darya the ninja.

As far as Darya knew, outside of the Seoul Interchange and the main Oracle HQ, SWA was one of the most well protected buildings in the city. Partially, admittedly, this was due to the presence of most of Oracle's combat specialists, the point still stands.

It was, therefore, a very nice, easy location to begin training herself in the art of staying unseen and unheard. At this particular moment, Darya, slathered with ETE paint and with an invisiblity field on, was standing near the back of the armory. Her mission: get to her room without the other occupants of the house noticing her. Everyone else was on strict orders to tell her if they had seen her so she'd know if she'd failed, although her biggest challenge was going to be Bell the AI. Taking a shallow breath, she began to move. ((Stealth+Agility+Invisiblity Field=23, rolled a 11, passed by 12.))

Ace had been told what Darya was up to, but not when she would be doing it. Ace had a licance to apply for and would usualy be working on the sofa or sitting at the kitchen table, but today he had a differant thaught. On the various missions he had been on so far for Oracle one thing had become very apparent. It was very easy to sneek into places undetected, even if those places were set up to try to detect intruders. Therefore Ace wanted to push himself to be better at noticing what was going on around him and having a chance of detecting hostiles before they assassinated him. He had moved on of the kitchen chairs downstairs and was sitting in the shadows of the Rig trying to stay slightly hidden while also keeping half an eye out for unexpected movements.

Unfortunatly despite his best efforts he was also learning some of the realy, realy, realy strange things that unkown tech could do and didn't quite notice Darya as she snuck past.

Darya was only able to make it to the first floor by the grace of Bell, who had allowed her aunt in law to get that far. As soon as Darya came over the edge of the stairs, the diminutive replicant turned her head down from her bed to face her. Her eyes glowed briefly before turning back to normal and narrowing slightly. Her mouth moved, but her voice came out of the local speakers at the top of the stairs as well as from her lips. "You are two point two meters from the stairs right now, moving south southwest. Please restart."

(Perception + Obs, AT 30, rolled a 7. This isn't counting Darya's biometric data, which would bring the AT to 40.)

Bell had been instructed a few weeks ago that once you identified someone being invisible, if you were sure they were not a threat, you should do your best to ignore them. Still, this was.. amusing too, especially in the compound she had not yet fully thought of herself as separate from. There was no hiding, not really.

Darya had been feeling pretty confident in herself, having noticed Ace hiding and avoided him, but she froze when she heard Bell's voice. She shrugged, deactivating her stealth field and heading back down. As she passed the rig, she waved to Ace and looked over at Bell.

"Bell...when exactly did you spot me?" she asked, smiling at her niece.

Bell dangled her feet over the side of the bed, moving them only ever so slightly. Upon inspection, it became obvious she was plugged into the rig, a thick red cord winding around her arm from the back of her head. She gave the question a moment of thought, and said in a distinctly quieter voice, "I am able to see you even with your invisibility field activated, even with the paint that camouflages your heat. You were never not visible."

She blinked once, and her eyes flashed a green glow for a moment. "I did not use the biometric data in my security calculations, but they do add a convincing bonus to perceiving known but cloaked humans... I did not think I would need it, and I was correct... ...If you like, I can try finding you without the aid of the camera system?" Her voice only raised slightly at the end, indicating the barest hint of a question. There was a strange and very slight warm feeling in her chest, and she gently pursed her lips as she tried to ignore it.

Darya shook her head, and laughed. "That's really impressive Bell. I doubt people could sneak in with you around."

Clambering over the various boxes, she crouched down in front of Bell and gently rubbed the replicant's hair. "But...I think I should probably work on my sneaking before I try to get past you again. You can be the big, final boss to really test my ablitites." She laughed slightly at the thought of Bell being a final boss.

"What you up to in there, anyway?" she asked, looking Bell in the eye.

Bell was sitting peacefully in her bed, watching the ETE painted Darya with deep green eyes. She blinked once, trying to diminish the feeling that was rising in her chest. It was strange and warm and.. ..And Pinkie had informed her to focus on her emotions. Her lips twitched once, forming a slightly crooked smile, before her face went back to being impassive as Darya mentioned being a final boss. Ah. Their game was over.

"I was trying to spot you while you stealthed. Now I will go back to the stealth spotting instruction manuals I downloaded in preparation for this event." Her voice was non-committal, but it had sounded like she'd put some time into this.

Darya frowned slightly as she noticed Bell's smile disappear. That was the first time she'd seen her smile, and she didn't like it vanishing.

She backed away slowly out of the compound, before activating a stealth field again. This time, this time, she'd be damn sneaky.

Unfortunately, the moment she got to the front door, she accidentally walked into it and had to muffle a swear as she steadied the door, before heading on once again. (Rolled a 17, pass by 6)

Bell waited until Darya was back in the main room, before the rig, before speaking. "I am accutely aware of doors opening and closing. In addition to the two chip scans you passed, most of the doors contain laser trip wires. I could hear you, as well."

The little replicant reclined on her bed, flopped over like the cyberlynx which lay across her chest. She had not expected Darya to come back, but the bounty hunter was easy to spot. Had Darya lied about their game being over? Or was she using deception to try to disguise her steps? Bell had not yet experienced much deception first hand, but she had read about it, and seen it on her TV shows often. Her face had gone back to being impassive.

Darya scratched the back of her head lightly. "That's...a lot of ways of seeing me Bell. I'm impressed." she said, smiling. " I was hoping that if you thought I had left you'd be less on guard...not that it matters. Do you want to go again?" she asked, standing in front of Bell's bedroom.

Bell seemingly ignored the compliments, tilting her head. "If you want a more equitable match, I can try to spot you using my eyes alone, and disconnect from the security network." She had said it before, but repeated it again, softly. She blinked her eyes once, twice, and turned her head back upright. "If you say so, I will disconnect to allow you to move without me knowing, to make it harder."

"Sounds like a good idea. Let's try that." said Darya, reaching forward and rubbing Bell's head slightly, before heading back up to her room. "This time, I'll go from my room to the exit." she said, smeaking it to the rest of the people who were in the house.

Waiting for a little while, her invisiblity field flickered into life and she began to leave her room. (AT 23, rolled a double 3, pass by 17).

This time Ace decided he'd try better to spot Darya and gave up on stealth. He put the chair away and instead sat on the stairs reading a datapad. As he was almost completely blocking the stairs Darya would have to be creative in getting round him, even if he didn't notice her. Which he most defiantly did not by sight or hearing (Roll of 7/5. Not even close)

For what it's worth, since Darya joined Oracle she'd had a lot of practice with people attempting to block her way, as well as a lot of practice climbing over and around things. Reaching forward above Ace's head, she used her arms to support her as she swung her body up and over his head, landing neatly on the ceiling before catching the wall and sliding down silently. She continued moving, heading towards her biggest obstacle. Bell.
