Post  Hugo Sat Jun 15, 2013 12:22 am

Okay we need to plan this. Now. Right now. We need to get into space as soon as possible to get everyone back. We need to find out where people are in the station. We need to get everyone somewhere safe afterwards. I will go even if I need to do it by myself. Fuck the arena fuck everything we need to get them back.

Please tell me what I can do to make this easier and happen faster. Please.

Ace has a space fleet we are using. I can try to find out as much as I can about the station, although I don't know how much that would be. If you have any favors, anyone who could help, call them in.

I also want to help get them out of there.  Not entirely sure what I can do to help in the planning phase with so little time available, though.  More than happy to fling lasers and telepathics around in close proximity to Ai Jinn agents, however.

Oh! Who has the Astronautic cybes cybernetics? If as many rescuers as possible go in with them then we can safely give space suits to our fellow agents once we recover them. Being immune to explosive decompression via the bronchial baffles would greatly improve our chances of surviving any firefight that occurs and the respiratory reserves would mean we would still be able to act. Finally the biothermal regulators should prevent anyone from freezing to death should they be exposed to the vacuum of space.

As I consider this to be of high importance to our chances of survival I will be installing these cybernetics for free all week on the moon, starting with myself. I should be able to acquire as many of these as we need and have them shipped without issue. Let me know in this space if you are taking me up on this offer. Ace sweet heart, do you know if Positron has facilities we can use for this on the moon? If not I shall bring my medical droid utilize it for the operations.

There is a fully kitted research cybernetics lab in Eroz prime and an advanced medical centre on the Apocrita. Lunas colony also has plenty of clinics.

I have set up appointments on the moon for combat cybernetics. I will be there soon.

Does anyone know how to contact Shap?

How will we break in? Will the Apocrita attack while we find a scheduled ship to break in more subtly?

What do we know of plans on the inside? Is it run by an AI?

How will we get people out?

How long before we get them? The WDN says that the Ai Jinn torture their prisoners. I heard rumors but off planet colonies are reported to be much worse.

We NEED to get there. Now. Sooner than now.

I am afraid I don't have any of those answers sweetie, but I may have secured a number of Phoenix security mercenaries who are willing to help us on this mission. Assuming we can get them into space using one of your ships, Ace, the Ai-Jinn won't see this coming.
Again, sorry I'm not more help.

How are we going to have a stealth attack on a station?
Once they get attacked, the fleet will come.
Have we decided to be stealthy as possible and NOT attack the station?

Planning Jail Break Empty Suggested plan for rescue of prisoners

Post  James Fletcher Mon Jun 17, 2013 12:11 am

Right, I need to clarify my idea, before people get the wrong end of the stick.

My thought was to take the smallest orbital shuttle I can find in the Eroz fleet (that is still large enough to carry all the Agents who want to get aboard the station), and alter it to be as undetectable as possible, i.e. add invisibility fields, a thermal emission blocking coating, etc.  Obviously this would be only be a week's work ((week 65 downtime)), but I'm hoping to rope in help from the other specialists at Eroz.  Once that's done, we park the rest of the Eroz fleet in orbit (perhaps come up with a believable legitimate reason for them to be there) at a distance from the station that hopefully won't immediately arouse suspicion, but that is close enough that they can get to the station reasonably quickly.  We time this to coincide with a prisoner/transport ship heading up to the station, and shadow this ship with the 'stealth' shuttle as it approaches the station.  Once close enough, or while the transport is docking etc, the shuttle will find a point of entry/docking and the agents will be dropped off onto the station.  There is also the possibility that we could bribe the crew of the transport ship in advance to aid in keeping the shuttle hidden, or possibly to transport reinforcements for us in addition to their actual cargo (i.e. any Phoenix mercenaries who want to help).  Once aboard, if we have remained undetected, we make our way to the prisoners while trying to remain undetected.  Once we find and secure them, then we use a comm. device (make sure each agent has one) to signal to the fleet to engage the station as a distraction while the prisoners and rescuers are extracted.  At this point we'll probably be guns blazing.

As a side objective, we could attempt to steal the prisoner records from this station, because I highly doubt the Ai Jinn would want that information to get into the 'wrong' hands.  Also, once we're sure that the prisoners are safe, we could work on de-orbiting the station, releasing other prisoners, etc, as the situation allows.

Obviously, this is very much a plan-in-progress; I just wanted to start getting ideas on the table, and this was the best I could come up with.

Planning Jail Break Empty Re: Planning Jail Break

Will we have enough ships to take on Ai Jinn back up? How long will we have if they call for support?

Shadowing another transport ship is an OK idea. Being small and stealthy also makes us vulnerable. If they notice us, our ship may not survive an initial assault, leaving us stranded in space away from the fleet.

If they are close enough to be noticed, the fleet will be close enough to warrant suspicion. Will they call for reinforcements then, giving us even less time?

Will a small ship take 6 of us, plus a pilot, plus several mercenaries, plus room for five prisoners who might be incapacitated and room for more? Just in case?

Planning Jail Break Empty Re: Planning Jail Break

Post  James Fletcher Mon Jun 17, 2013 1:17 am

This is exactly why I put down my thoughts; so that other people would spot the holes I hadn't thought of and come up with better plans.  Smile

I don't know; if the Ai Jinn realise what we're trying to do, they may well respond with heavy reinforcements.  Ace knows the fleet best, but I would guess that it would not stand up very long against a concerted effort by the Ai Jinn.  I was thinking that they could do a hit-and-run style attack, enough to draw some attention to defending the station and away from our infiltration team, and hopefully giving them a chance to run.

Honestly, I don't know what to say for most of those problems, but as for the size of the ship, good point on whether we could fit in the prisoners, but I was thinking it would be best to only take agents ((player characters)) in on the shuttle, and possibly have one of us piloting it as well (if any of us can, of course), in order to leave some room to possibly take the prisoners out in the shuttle as well (assuming we can get back to it and fly it away).  I also thought that we could possibly make use of the transport ship (assuming that there is one, of course) to extract people.  There is also the possibility of using the station's escape pods, but I would advocate that as a last resort.

Very good point about the vulnerability of the shuttle if it's noticed, and about the proximity of the fleet.  I hadn't considered those in great depth.

Any more/better ideas, everyone?

Planning Jail Break Empty Re: Planning Jail Break

We are arranging to remove at least five potentially incapacitated agents. We need enough bodies to carry five agents out of there.

If Ace is piloting the Apocrita, that leaves six people. One pilot. That leaves five agents to go inside, disable security, avoid detection, and leave with five potentially heavily incapacitated agents. I am stronger now than I was before, and while I can carry a lot of weight, I don't know how many people I can carry while also fighting off security forces. I think the more people we take with us, the better.

Ai Jinn Space stations tend to have AIs to manage tasks. They also aren't known for having escape pods. They might, but might not. We cannot rely on them.

If the transport ship finds out about combat inside, it might leave before we can take it over. We would need to prioritize keeping it on the station if we planned on using it.

If the Ai Jinn fleet shows up, we might not escape even in a stealth ship if they notice us. And we do not want to sacrifice Ace or anyone else. It is better to get this done before reinforcements arrive.

We have only a short amount not just to come up with a better plan, but a plan with no holes. There is no room for error. They are counting on us. And we need to do this as fast as possible. Every hour we delay means more suffering for them. We need to be faster. Better.

I was not intending to Pilot the Apocrita. It only requires one crew member due to the level of automation and A.I. control the ship has and I have a pilot I trust to be in control. Besides if we need to escape from the station you need the best pilot you can get to fly us away and avoid an incoming Ai-Jinn fleet.

As an amendment to the plan we should work on taking over any prison transport ship that there is, removing the prisoners and flying it ourselves into the station. We will need keys and codes to do so, but perhaps the original pilots can be persuaded to tell us what they are.

With regards to the fleet, please bear in mind that these are transport shuttles. They may be military grade and contain weapons but they are still, first and foremost, designed for trade and transport of goods. They cannot stand up against a concentrated Ai-Jinn attack, but on the other hand there is plenty of space for storage inside. This also applies to the Apocrita.

Karishma: If you look in docking bay 3 you will find there is already a partualy disconstructed shuttle being outfit for stealth by a team. I would appreciate if you could expand on the work they have been doing.

With regards to getting people out, we don’t need to carry their bodies. We only need the heads.

Planning Jail Break Empty Re: Planning Jail Break

Ace, with respect sweetie, that is a horrible idea. We should endeavour to ensure that they do not become more injured than they are when we find them and I'm afraid that recovering them dead should only be considered as a last resort and even then, only if something tips our hands. Should the Ai-Jinn notice our operation they would almost certainly attempt to destroy the heads. I mean, yes technically if we used a nano resusitation pack within approximately four minutes of removal then we would have that time again, within a margin of error of about five percent. With which to get them hooked up to cardio & respiratory stand ins.

But this idea will not help them recover quickly, most certainly not pschologically, no matter how quickly Eroz can clone their bodies. The fact that we, their friends & allies would force them to get a new body after torture, is not a thought I care to entertain. Additionally from a purely practical point of view, this would require fitting out the shuttle beforehand with five such systems or as many stasis caskets. And while I do not know if this would be a large drain on the shuttle's power it would take up a significant amount of space. I also don't know how many of our fellow agents would be able to assisst me in hooking up cardio & respiratory stand ins, Enrique certainly wouldn't be in a fit state to help.

I really do hope that that was what you were proposing Ace as I do not think back ups taken post morteum are even possible, much less safe and reliable. Putting aside for a moment that the act is ghastly in and of itself, we simply shouldn't do it. Re: actually getting them out at least two of us have the requiste strength to carry an agent, more of us if the Ai-Jinn have not been feeding them and/or if they have removed cybernetics. Further we could use gourney's with braod spectrum invisibilty fields or just actual gourney's that they have there, should Shinobu and myself appropriate disugises.

With regard to the Ai-Jinn fleet, it seems that our best bet would be to stop the Captivity 17 from signalling for back up if and/or when we are discovered. It might not be enough to simply disable the station's communication equipment, as well as any attending shuttle, since any one Ai-Jinn aboard might have alternate means of contacting the fleet. The chance that they might not have a back up system is only even real because they are the Ai-jinn. Some method of broadly jamming communication to and feom the station would make the most sense, should such a means exist. I am afraid that I am unable to look into this myself as I spending this week acquiring a number of large explosives for use once we have made our escape.

I apologize for not being clear. I'm sure most of our captured collegues have brain oxygenation systems installed which would allow 24 hours after recovery to afix the heads to surrogate bodies. Even if such systems are damaged I'm sure a skilled cybetneticist such as you could get them working again. The bear minimum we require to liberate our colleges is the head. Of course rescuing them intact is preferable but if we need space wecan always remove unnessesary weight. At the least removing the limbs will lighten the load while leaving cardiac and respiratory systems functional.

Getting hold of large quantities of explosives is a good idea. I'm working on something similar myself.
