News Reports for Week 22
Tens of Thousands of Refugees Ejected from SY Territory
The port of Zaliv has been filled with refugees brought into the area by cargo ship. The vast majority of the refugees are SY citizens, carrying only a handful of prized possessions.
The emerging story is that these citizens were rounded up from their homes and places of work a week ago and kept in crowded but relatively comfortable cells. The refugees were then herded into large cargo vessels and transported to the Zaliv processing plant port.
The Ai Jinn have allowed the UIG access to the area to deal with re-housing the displaced citizens and getting them out of the their territory. The exact number of refugees is impossible to gauge accurately, but the figure is all ready upwards of twenty thousand. Anonymous sources within the UIG defence forces have also leaked reports that show more cargo ships are on the way.
After docking, the automated vessels returned to Japanese waters, but the Nippon border guard have prevented any other groups following them back to port.
A UIG spokesperson commented "We are facing a humanitarian disaster in Zaliv. The town is simply not equipped to deal with this many families. The pollution in the area alone is all ready causing a number of dangerous sicknesses."
EI banks release billions of credits to stabilize markets
The world economy has been temporarily stabilised by a group of EI owned banks. 0% interest loans and an unprecedented investment in the stock markets have helped to slow the rapid collapse of many of the world's largest companies. The market is still sliding down due to broken supply lines and unpaid debts, but economic analysts predict that even if the SY situation is not resolved, the global economy has enough capital to rebuild over the next few months.
Gunther Van Rosch, CEO of EI, told one reporter "Money fixes all problems if you have enough of it. And we do."
