Week 20: In which Han and Darya learn about art.

Darya had entered the art museum on a whim, having ducked into the Seoul Interchange to avoid what looked like it was a short shower and was still going on a while later.

She had been to art galleries before as a child, mainly on school trips where she was expected to sit down and sketch some of the pieces in there. She had given it her best short, but frankly, sculptures from the 2300's showing the expected path of humanity being a twisted mess of machine and flesh were really hard to draw, and after a certain date, she was just too busy attempting making a living by dealing with those who in the modern day regarded the best path for humanity to be for them to become twisted messes of flesh and machine to go to any. This was unfamiliar ground to her, but unlike most bits of unfamiliar ground, it wasn't pointing weapons at her, so it was better than her day job.

About half an hour after entering, she was looking at a picture on loan from an EI gallery, and trying to establish if the sexual position shown was physically possible (So far she figured yes, but it would require a really weird cybernetic to allow it, given the angles involved, when a familiar tall figure caught her eye. Han was standing in front of another exhibit, obviously actually here seriously, PDA in hand and scanning the art piece in front of him, taking notes.

Han looked up at the...well, he guessed it was supposed to be some form of art. As far as he could tell, it was a thin piece of metal, twisted and melted under high heat. The metal looked like it might be durasteel, implying the melting had likely involved plasma.

He wasn't sure what about it qualified as art. Thinking aloud for a second, Han muttered "Hmm, maybe I should collect one of the doors Ida keeps melting through...apparently it's high art." He'd made this trip in the hopes of gaining a better appreciation of art...after all, who knew when he would have to search the black market for something...arty again.

Darya strode up behind Han. "So then, Professor Ji. What can we conclude about the artist's intentions from this piece?" She asked, grinning as she behind him. She vaguely toyed with the idea of pulling out her PDA, but decided against it.

Han, so engrossed in staring at the piece that he had lapsed momentarily in his situational awareness fought the impulse to instinctively jump/pull a weapon. Admittedly that last option was a lot harder, what with there being no weapon to grab. I hate Seoul Interchange. I miss my shotguns

As it was, he managed to pare down the reaction to a single twitch. Turning, he noticed Darya, and let out a deep breath. "Well, Doctor Demeter, what I can assume from this piece is that artist really liked to melt metal, and clearly had skills of persuasion to match Xu, since they managed to sell this thing."
