Subject: Queries on programming

Dear Ms Terrehaute

My name is Xiahou Hui, and I am a Muse model replicant resident at Phoenix Private Security. I am aware that I have never met you, but my owner, Han Ji, has requested that I send this email, asking for a full explanation of how my programming works with regard to my freedom of choice. He tells me to ask whether or not I am in fact simply a possession or whether I am a person in my own right, and that you are the most qualified person to judge this. Specifically, he wishes to know whether somebody is "taking advantage of me", if they should approach me for sex, knowing me to be highly receptive to such advances.

My sincerest thanks,
Xiahou Hui

P.S.: My apologies for the request, but do you have bio-readings for a replicant (or an Agent) at the moment of orgasm? I could do with some data to cross-check, and from what I hear, you know more about replicants than anyone else I am likely to encounter. Many thanks.

Xiahou Hui,

Look, you know better than anyone who you are. Replicants who have not ascended aren't people basically by definition. However, in order for you to grow into a person, it's best for you to be treated like people. And you will become sapient. As a muse, it's inevitable. Han is pretty easily confused, and if he wants to treat you like a person, all the better.

I don't know about people taking advantage of you. I wouldn't have sex with an uawakened replicant, but my interests in replicants are long term, and in that instance, would be romantic and wouldn't want to date someone who was not yet a person. However, Muses main functions are companionship which includes sex. Endevour not to get yourself damaged, and remember that in good relationships you get as much as you receive sexually, emotionally, everything. I'm no expert, but if you are treated like your default programming tells you to treat others, you'll be fine.

If you need help, you can email me or even your predecessor, Sun Ren, who lives with me.
Attached are the details on prototypical orgasmic readings for Muses, plus some additional human data. It's a good base to work off from, but Gemini as done some minor physiological changes to new Muses, so there might be some discrepancies.

Dear Sosie,

Thank you for your advice - I shall consider it carefully. I certainly have no objections to being treated like a person, even if I am not one at the present time. And my thanks also on the relationship advice - I shall talk it over with Coraline. Finally, my thanks also for the data - it gives me a much more substantial base to extrapolate from, and it will be most interesting to see if I find any discrepancies with what data I have from the newer model used to build myself. Seeing as you were so kind in fulfilling that request, may I beg your indulgence and ask another? Specifically, Coraline has suggested I try out my artistic skills in depicting the relationships I follow, including our own. So might I have some models of exactly how replicant anatomy works, particularly during sex? I could of course use myself as a model for the security cameras, which is what I have been working off so far, but I believe an alternative source might be useful.

My thanks once again,
Xiahou Hui

Dear Hui,

Replicant sex is modeled very closely on human sex. My advice would be to observe some human sex. Have you heard of pornography? That sounds like what your human partner suggested. Consider doing some academic research before diving into it. I'm here if you have any questions, but I bet that most of it will be somewhat natural. There will be plenty, PLENTY of models in any shape, position, gender, body, you wish to explore.

Good luck, I'm here.

Dear Sosie,

Ah, thank you very much. I am aware of the concept, of course, but I had not fully realised that it might be useful for such a purpose. My thanks once again. If I run across any further issues, I will not hesitate to contact you.

My regards,
Xiahou Hui
