Week 56: A Day in the Life of an Adrenaline Junkie

Silvia didn't reply to anybody, simply nodding and taking the drink that Hugo was offering, before taking a large gulp of it. Her eyes were fixed firmly on the drink and her cheeks were still flushed, although they were beginning to pale again.

A lithe asian man walked into the bar, wearing a white hoodie decorated with a gold geometric pattern and black jeans. Shinobu strolled up to the group of Oracle agents. "Good afternoon ladies, gentlemen, Hugo. Drunk yet?" He looked at Fenris appraisingly. "You the new girl, or just some innocent passer-by they roped into this?"

Fenris looked the new arrival up and down, "Yeah, I'm Fenris. Here, have a drink." She passed the newcomer a dark blue drink before continuing "You guys rope in passers by often?"

"Nice to meet ya. Shinobu Kisaragi, disposal specialist," Shinobu said, taking a sip from the drink. "Nah, stuff stays in the family normally. You could almost call us professional if you're the generous sort. There was the time Han here ended up abducting a stripper on the job, but that's not quite the same thing is it?" he joked.

"Hey, that wasn't our fault. The poor girl had an unregistered crystal weave body space and was being mind controlled by an Ai-Jinn agent from a sect with a bad habit of wrecking lives. She was unconcious, so we took her to get her checked out and give her a clean bill of health. Besides, someone on that mission had the detainment license, so it was completely above board. She's doing great now, we cleansed some weird stuff out of her brain, she's sitting pretty on a million credits."

Despite this, Han shifted uncomfortably in his armour, indicating he was still somewhat uncomfortable with the situation.

"Han, I was there and I hardly believe that story. Between that kind of crazy and the pay, I almost wouldn't be surprised if this was all a dream," Shinobu said with a laugh, pinching his arm for emphasis and to prove he was awake. "We waiting on anyone else?"

"I think Ace was meeting us there, so you would be the last, unless someone else turns up unannounced." She looks at Han. "But we still have a little more time. So, what do you people do for fun? Beyond jumping out of high flying vehicles, that is." The arrival of more people, and resultant intake of more alcohol, seemed to have calmed Fenris down a bit from her earlier agitated state.

"Well, sometimes I spar, back at Phoenix, or go free running. Most of the time, I hang around the dirtiest, nastiest dives going, trying to catch the word on the street from the local scum. It's usually pretty entertaining. Of course, theres always my soa..." Han's voice cut off suddenly before continuing. "Soaks. Long, hot soaks in the bath. That's it."

Hugo raised his eyebrows at Han's stripper abduction story and following tidbit about 'soaks', but said nothing for a few moments. Though there was a drink in his hand, he kept his arm protectively around Silvia's shoulders. As the talk continued and she seemed to relax, he moved back a little, nodding to Shinobu in greeting and smiling a little. "With me, it's metal--the music--and guns. Welt ball in the right season, too. And Seoul has a really good night life."

He smiled a little more, happy the talk had turned to lighter things. Friendly gossip wasn't apparently the done thing, here, but you couldn't go wrong with welt ball chat.

Fenris' eyebrows raised a little at Han's comment "You go free-running in that?" She shrugs, "Fair enough... I imagine it would slow you down a bit though." Turning back to Hugo, she decided that she should really give him another chance. "I do like some metal, though I've not been to a gig in ages, though I am a big Weltball fan! Who do you support?"

Han laughed. "Oh, for most people sure. But I basically live in this armour, most of the time. It's practically a second skin for me. I barely even notice the distance. Also, it means I can take the higher height break falls, which adds more time then you know. Most people just accept that armour should slow you down. Those people are quitters.

Han grinned, though it was clear from his tone that he was only half joking.

"Weltball, huh? I'm actually a pretty big fan of the Kowloon Rejects. Used to work at their matches as a runner for the snack vendors before I got conscripted by the Ai-Jinn"

"Rejects aren't bad, but I followed the Profitteers and the Tweakers when I was in the Free State. I even subbed for the Risers, but they are just a regional team outta the Northern States and were missing a player." He gave a little laugh, lowering his arm from around Silvia's shoulders but still standing protectively close to her. He seemed nonchalantly proud of his semi-pro debut into weltball. He gave another shrug. "After actually being in the arena, I'm feeling a little in between teams." He grinned widely, giving Fenris a look. "What about you?"

"Personally, I like the Darkstars. I know, I know, everyone does, but I don't like them just because they're popular. I just.. like the fact that they're successful through skill, rather than just brute force" She grins "Well, that's not to say I don't enjoy the blood, it wouldn't be Weltball without that." Fenris then glances towards Silvia, who had been very quiet so far "How about you Silvia?"

Startled at the sudden attention directed at her, Silvia almost dropped her drink, but managed to recover just in time. "Oh, I...weltball isn't really...I've kind of lost track of it. Long absence and everything. I used to look out for the Tokyo Immortals, but I...I heard they disbanded a couple of years ago." She shrugged. "I was never really into it that much anyway. Too much...noise. Too many people."

"Well, each to their own i suppose." As Fenris checked the time on her watch, her eyes widened "Oh shit! We should really get going if we don't want to be late!" With that, she downed the remainder of her drink and headed towards the door, waiting to make sure everyone else was following.
