Week 16, Thursday Night: Pet Upholstery

"Almost finished, puppy. Just stay.. move you head up.. No like.. ah, yeah, right there." Sosie released the reddish guard hairs, and looked at Evee's now fuzzy face. She didn't like to be mean to Pinkie's wolves, but.. Evee looked much better. A friendlier face, and less like a shuddering BIO monster. The last thought gave Sosie pause. Pinkie seemed to like BIOs.. or at least, she fussed over the terrible sputtering gun. Eh, oh well. Worst case she could take all the hair off.. Sosie frowned at the thought, looking at the reddish wolf. She worked hard to find semi-accurate pictures, and make Evee less of a.. Code 4. "Don't worry, puppy, Pinkie will love you no matter what."

The geneshift was soft to the touch, now, though Sosie had only a few more longer guard hairs to place. She kissed Evee's nose, grinning. A few blasts of warm air would sink the hair in, sure.. Sosie's eyes looked over at the replicant rig down the room. The metal of it seemed to be alive, making soft, organic noises. The skeleton was still growing, metal and various proteins mixing in as the rig maintained length and size and shape. The replicant smith closed her eyes for a minute. She didn't like to be far from it, and it felt.. good, to be working. To have a.. bun in the over so to speak. She scratched Evee's neck and back. "Okay, move here." She patted the bed, encouraging Evee to move forward. As was becoming habit, she repeated in English. Seem to figure it out quickly, and Sosie pet her flattened ear.

After this, she could do Gren next week--provided Pinkie didn't hate what she had done to Evee-- and.. Sosie still had to repress a little shudder. Pinkie's beta was still.. slightly scary to her. Well, that would be next week. There would be muscles on bones then. It was a happy thought.
