Shanghai Attacked by giant Nanoswarm!
A large nanoswarm became active in a lightly populated area of the Shanghai old city. A full UIG response was called in and required the evacuation of over 10,000 people and a battle spanning 26 hours. No cyberlins were involved, but Ai Jinn tanks, UIG anti-grav ships and an undisclosed number of Malenbrach officers were dispatched to disperse the nanoswarm cloud before it could cause significant damage to the industries around Shanghai. There is no word yet on casualties, but it is thought that no civilians were harmed directly by the swarm thanks to the rapid evacuation of the area by the UIG. A large area of Shanghai and significant amounts of infrastructure were badly damaged during the attack and a city-wide power cut was still causing problems four hours after the swarm was declared destroyed.
A UIG spokesperson said that this is further proof that nano-technology legislation does not go far enough and that only UIG-sponsored nano-factories under Archon control should be allowed to wield such potentially dangerous technology.
