Week 89: Two Women in a Tiny Submarine

Silvia frowned. This wasn't adding up to a coherent picture. "So..." she said slowly. "You know about a lot of corporate atrocities, you hate the corporations for it...and you didn't join Oracle to expose them? Why, then?" She sounded more curious than anything - Carmen was evidently an enigma to her.

The little hacker laughed again, and for once, it didn't sound bitter or sarcastic. Just.. sad. "See, these are the questions you should be asking. Why indeed." The phone in her hands vibrated. The mini-holoprojector started up, sending a cascade of stars over her hands, announcing a new high score and the start of a new level. She didn't seem to care. She just frowned. "I am sure the CEO finds me... trustworthy." And there, the bitterness was back. Silvia could see Carmen was shutting down.

"That's...good." Silvia said, her tone showing that she clearly thought this shouldn't need to be said. Seeing that Carmen was shutting down, she turned her attention away, towards the ocean. If the other woman wanted not to talk, that was fine with her.
