Pinkie's week (13)... of trying, vainly, to build. Empty Pinkie's week (13)... of trying, vainly, to build.

*Heading into the workshop for the first time Pinkie placed her mule tech on the table. It was the one Sosie had given her in Shanghai quite some time ago. Setting one of the mechtronics toolkit’s in the shop at the other side of the table, Pinkie unzipped her mule tech and retrieved five Eroz basic mechtronics kits as well as an advanced toolkit. She figured she could use all the help she could get. Opening up the tool kit for the first time Pinkie sat down and carefully looked through the instructions, what each bit of kit was called, what it did and why you had to be careful using it. Placing it to one side Pinkie pulled one of the Eroz kits forward and examined the mechtronics components within. Bringing up the instructions on her PDA Pinkie began to construct a fuse. Using the advanced mechtronics kit to help fix any errors she made along the way, Pinkie slowly but steadily made progress. An hour and a half latter, parts and pieces of kit strewn around her, using her internal A.I. GUI and anascan upgrades to locate the tools she needed from the sea of chaos, Pinkie finished the fuse and examined it critically.

She knew enough to know that this would not hold the 5 amps threshold it was designed to and would yield before then. Pinkie got up, walked over to the bin and with judious application of Nikolai melted the offending article, her creation, smiling slightly at the miniscule amount of time between the fuse blowing and it melting. Pinkie quickly flung the steaming liquid into the bin before it burnt her fingers too badly and returned to her seat. She set about constructing another fuse with what was left of this eroz kit, despite the fact there were another four in front of her, old habits die hard. In just under an hour she had finished this one, examining it critically against a correct diagram on her PDA. Pinkie noticed one small flaw in the fuse that would cause it to fail before five amps were sent through it. Giving the bin a brief stare, Pinkie placed the fuse down in front of her and using the advanced toolkit, began fixing her small misstep. As she did so she cursed herself inwardly, although destroying the failed fuse had been… purgative, there would have been salvageable parts within it which, given time and patience, she could have used here.

Fingers conspicuously not covered in tiny scratches, given how many times she had nicked them and with only a few scorch marks visible, Pinkie once again examined the fuse. This would pass muster, but she would not want to use it herself. Fading out Pinkie pulled another basic mechtronics kit towards her and pulled up the designs and instructions for a normal set of lock picks. After learning them Pinkie set to work constructing a set. Fitting each length of metal after the other, 'till each of the picks was completed Pinkie found no noticeable increase in her ability to put the kit parts together, but she would have felt wrong handling lockpicks while visible. Putting together a set of picks came much more naturally to Pinkie and these would probably only brake on their… third use?*

*Pinkie visibly raised her head from the table, hours later, in some frustration. So far, floating amidst the sea of chaos that was the remains of three desecrated basic toolkits and the equipment from the advanced there were; two suitable fuses (one 5 and one 500 amp respectively), one set of lockpicks, two butterfly knifes (one of which was painful to look at, much less use) and one scalpel. So far the lessons she had learned were, in no particular order; don’t just rid yourself of failed pieces of equipment since they can still be scavenged from, don’t stick your hand in a dynamo no matter how grounded/insulated you are, it just explodes showing everything in tiny pieces of glowing hot metal, be careful of blunting your equipment against your skin, likewise of crushing your equipment between thumb and forefinger and the Eroz basic mechtronics kits have an organic aesthetic going on. And she was hungry, very hungry. Right, after I get food, I shall make a set of tools from one of the remaining kits and limit myself to those. Then I’ll spend tomorrow, all of it, on one project just using those tools. Perhaps I will make a… Pinkie squinted at one of the sets of basic’s instructions… Toy car, or a drill… maybe a hammer. Sighing Pinkie rose and decided she would have a shower before eating.*

As Pinkie opened the door inward, she saw on a tray of food on the floor. It involved a tub of smork and a pile of pork buns, along with a handful of Nutrigrain bars. The buns smelled good and were slightly warm to the touch; they had been heated a while ago, but were no longer piping hot.

*Pinkie looked at the tray of food for slightly longer than was strictly nessecary, knelt down and inhaled the smell, savouring it. Picking up the tray Pinkie rose and said, just loud enough to be heard.*

Thank you Bell.

*Nodding to a camera, Pinkie headed up the stairs to the kitchen, setting her food down on the table and seating herself. She then proceeded to consume the sweet food. Buns first, then most of the nutribars and finally the tub of smork, which had always confused Pinkie whenever she had seen Sosie eat one. Was it supposed to taste and act like ice cream or smork? A slight smile played on Pinkie's lips as she wondered how she had come to be in such a safe place with the time to mess about with mechtonics and be looked after. The smile grew to be a proper one as she remembered the answer. Remembering her little ritual of feeding with her pack Pinkie whistled them to her and set to work. She was suprised by Evee arriving well before anyone else, even Smallest. And more than a little concerned by how long it took for Gren to arrive, followed shortly by Cat.*
