Week 94: What's in that box?
Fenris was not happy. Of course the mission had to be on the fucking Worldview, and it had to be so time critical they couldn't afford to get a shuttle up to the fucking moon. And so she'd had to endure the eternity of endless procedures and checks and preparations for teleporting, never knowing where it was she would end up, if it would be back there, even though there was now in pieces on the bottom of the ocean... So there was no fucking way she was going to teleport if there was any other way.
Now she was in a box, which was not great, but it was better than the alternative, and at least it had furniture. Dani wanted to just send a sofa, but Fenris made sure it was a full 3-piece suite, she needed more space, at least enough to move around. For now, she ignored the other Agent, obviously anxious, and hoping to distract herself with a film she had on her PDA. She hadn't even managed to get a particularly great one, it was some trashy B-movie about an invasion of Subspace spiders...

While she had initially resisted Fenris' complaints about the original box, the change meant there was room enough for Dani, her laser cannon, and Fenris, so it had worked out in the end. Now there was just... a day and a half... with only Fenris for company. More like grumpany, really. She glanced over Fenris' shoulder and saw the film she was watching. "Oh, I've seen this one, it's really good! It has a really good twist, Scott Drake's character is- Wait, no, that spoiler'd ruin it, but yeah, good stuff."

Fenris glanced back at the other Agent, she doubted that this film could pull off a "good twist", though Dani was just trying to make small talk or something. She groaned inwardly, they were going to be in here for far too long. She should probably make an effort too, even if she really didn't want to right now. "Do you want me to connect your Smeaker in too? Though it isn't exactly a large screen, we could probably make it work. We could even U-view it."

"Oh, good idea. I was gonna spend the time looking over CVs but I could do with a break from work," Dani replied, sending the sharing details over to Fenris' PDA. "I doubt the 'boss' will mind," she added with a chuckle. If nothing else, watching a film would distract Fenris from things like complaining about the teleportation they'd been through and might need to do again to get out. Yes, her trauma was a very good reason for her to be so upset by it, but that didn't mean Dani wanted to hear about it for a day and a half.

Fenris linked Dani in to the sound, "I doubt Silvia would want you doing other work on a mission anyway." The Nuke could see that she was holding onto her PDA quite tightly, which might mean something if Dani actually cared. The film had just gotten to the reveal of the Spider Queen, but being this movie, it was just a woman in a Halloween costume, which was about what Feris expected.

The movie passed fairly quietly, thoughon a rewatch Dani felt like the "the protagonist is the real spider queen" twist wasn't that well foreshadowed, and the blatant sequel hook at the end was more annoying than anything.
"So, how are you feeling about this mission? Pretty high stakes, huh?"

Re: Week 94: What's in that box?
Fenris had kind of expected that level of bad, but what got her was the fact that people were still going with the "EI character teaches the Bad Guy to love, and elopes into the distance" cliche. She'd figured that even the bad films would have gotten past that point by now.
Fenris looked askance at Dani, but decided to ignore the pun. "It would have to be on the bloody Worldview wouldn't it? Not somewhere even vaguely easy to get to? But I'm sure we'll have no trouble getting into the casino, what I'm worried about is getting out again without blowing everything up. Oracle isn't great at subtle exits."

"Space is big, it's easy to get lost in it if you can get away at the start." Dani took a bite of her nutribar before continuing. "We have this as a reserve escape route too, and the CEO clearly has something in mind. We're way more covered on this than normal for exits, which is weird given our normal operational procedure. I'm not complaining, though."

"I guess it depends on the newbies. You'd think they should be good, since the CEO hired them, but I don't think he even cares about that." Fenris fished out some of her own food, stuff she'd picked up back home in Eden Spire. "Though it will be interesting to see what this mystery escape actually is."
