Amanita Ltd.
Greetings Agents! Are you fed up of bouncing between contractors, or are you just looking for that illusive rank? We may be able to help!
Amantia Ltd. is based in sunny Carberra, voted the best place to live in the Australian Free Zone, and we specialise in helping to remove those individuals who just make life that much harder for everyone else. We are looking for skilled field agents who are looking for a good challenge, and possibly wish to make the world a better place. See attached for full details of the exciting work you can expect to do. Hope to hear from you soon!
Jon Laston, rank 6, Head Medical Officer and Administrator, Amantia Ltd.
Campaign: So I'm getting a GMing itch, however I won't be in the position to run anything in person for a while. As such, I'd like to try this, a campaign based, at least for the first mission or so, on a forum. The details of the Corporation are below. Would people be interested?
Amanita Ltd.
Operates out of Canberra, Australia. Legally, specialises in targeted killings of criminals, either for the bounty or on commission from another Corporation. Has only recently expanded its operations out to recruit new operatives, preferring to approach freelance agents. Agents can suggest targets, however most will be taken from a list of potential targets maintained by the Corporation.
Character Generation: Amanita has been hiring agents without ties to any existing Corporation. As such, players should gen their starting characters as freelance agents from Incorporated (pg 34). They receive 5000 credits starting money and the freelance agent licence, as well as all basic agent upgrades.
Additionally, they possess the following from the agent licences and starting equipment list (Core pg 13)
Identification Badge for quick identification to others without scanning an ID chip. Shows basic details.
Law Enforcement License
Light Firearms License
License to use Non-Powered Melee Weapons
They may choose an additional two items from the remainder of the list for free. All other items must be purchased by the agent.
1 Intravenous Medpack.
Exceptional Black Cougar Handgun (Kinetic Pistol)
D8 Damage (critically passes on 1/1 and 2/2).
External Communications Device, (comm. device).
Flack Jacket (Gives +1 Armour Value)
Handcuffs
ID Chip Scanner (normal)
PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) A small portable computer)
They start with three languages of the player’s choice, although Amanita communications default to English.
They start with 8 points of licences, as well as the Freelance Agent license.
Because Amanita is looking for skilled operatives, it is assumed that all the players will be experienced as agents. Therefore they get an additional 10 exp at character generation.
Previous Employer Perks
Freelance agents often receive perks from their employers. You can choose 1 of the following benefits, given to you during your time with another company.
- You worked with a company which either made their own drugs or had excellent deals with Corporations such as Two Snakes, and handed them out to contractors. You have 2000 credits of drugs/chemicals that you are licensed to use (i.e. no class A drugs)
- You worked for a company that has excellent engineers available. One of your pieces of equipment has been increased in condition by two levels.
- You’ve worked for a company that specialises in capture technology. Items such as handcuffs, ties, injector pistols/rifles and KO weapons can be purchased at a 20% discount.
- Your last contractor had a very good agreement with Aegis. You may purchase Hard Ion shields for a 20% discount.
- Your last contractor hired expert trainers from around the world. You get 4 exp to put towards one skill (if you have the telepath training, this could be a telepathic skill).
- Your last contractor ended up with a whole load of surplus vehicles (condition 5). You can buy these from them at an additional 20% discount on top of the drop in price due to low condition, since they’d like to be rid of them. (This means that the vehicle is 30% of the cost listed in the book)
- Your last contractor specialised in cybernetics, and was willing to waiver the installation fee for you, dropping the price by 10%.
- The contractor has insiders in the UIG licensing board. You received an additional 3 license points from them, to be spent as normal.
- The contractor just paid you well. You start with 6000 instead of 5000 credits.
Benefits
Termination 1 Licence for free when joining the Corporation.
Access to the Corporation’s equipment library. This is a collection of items, generally one use only, which can be used by the group on missions. Few of these items are available elsewhere. Each item requires a certain number of access points for the agents to borrow them. The number of access points the team for a particular mission has is equal to the sum of the ranks of the team members on that mission.
The standard agent drugs are supplied, and each agent receives enough food to keep a base agent active. Additional food, for instance if the agent chooses to have more cybernetics, must be purchased by the agent themselves. The Corporation also supplies legal counsel for agents caught, meaning you don’t have to hire a lawyer if you can’t afford to.
Each agent receives a small flat above the HQ in Carberra. Each flat contains a bed, a desk, a kitchen area and a bathroom, as well as a coded safe. The codes for the safe and the room door locks are given to each agent in their welcome pack. It is advisable to use your internal AI to help remember these.
(OOC: The game would be mainly forum based, at least at the start, with a play by post system for at least the first mission while I set everything up.)

Re: Amanita Ltd.
How would this be run?
I'd love to play some Corporation, but I can't be there in person. If you were running online, count me in, if not, don't worry about it.

Re: Amanita Ltd.
Whatever the format (online or forum seem good?), as somebody who spent the afternoon genning a character for this I am so in. Playing a pistol assassin/hacker fwiw.
EDIT: Oh, right, yeah, you say right there in the post that it will be forum-based for a while at least.

Re: Amanita Ltd.
I'd also definitely be interested! Already got a character lying around that I could tinker with to fit this...
EDIT: By the way, what was your ruling again on rolling a 20 on a non-profession skill when the AT is higher than 20? Would you count that as a botch or a pass?
EDIT 2: Also, would you be alright with me using the extra 10xp for a third training?

Re: Amanita Ltd.
It would be mainly forum based, at least until September, then it'll switch to either roll20 or in person.

Re: Amanita Ltd.
Yes, because I like them. Also, I run assassinate as being able to go off of light firearms instead of close combat, although you still need to be close to the target to pull it off.
EDIT: Also, because you're not going to be having infinite (in fact, you get paid less per mission than Comoros agents do, 500 x rank) money, as Oracle currently does, I'm not using the inventory slot system.

Re: Amanita Ltd.
I was going to set this up as a seperate forum, but Hugo has asked if it can be a subforum of this forum. Any opinions?

1.) On a non-profession skill, 0/0 is always a crit botch.
2.) That's what it's there for. The low starting funds limit character builds slightly, so I wanted to give you something flexible to work with.

Sub-forum sounds good.
(Although you cannot botch when using equipment of at least condition 11, correct?)

Re: Amanita Ltd.
I would be interested in this. one question, would we have to pay for cybernetic type stuff that has a purely cosmetic effect, and not a mechanical one I.E being a lizard man.

Re: Amanita Ltd.
Let me know if you want a subforum, and if you want it to be open to all, or just certain people.
I would also like to be in this game with a character I am still fleshing out. I think he will be a support weapon specialist from E.I territory.

I think an open subforum would be good. Look forward to seeing your character.
@Fenris: Could you send me more details so I can decide?

One thing I was wondering, is are we using the Oracle rules? And are we using the setting?

Re: Amanita Ltd.
When I asked in IRC, Mat~ said the game's set in the standard Corp era of 2500 rather than the Oracle/Merger 2550 with tsunamis and ronin and Oracle around.

Re: Amanita Ltd.
All agents recieve a starting pack from the Corporation. As well as containing information like smeaker encryption and frequency codes and codes for the various doors in the HQ, they contain tickets for the 16:14 skybridge express shuttle (basically a UIG run bus service on the Skybridge) from Xaafunn to Dampier Arch. When you're ready, feel free to post in that thread. When everyone's made a character, the shuttle will arrive, and we'll get properly started.
