End of week 85: Vague references to discoveries.
Amets stumbled out of her office, looking like a woman who hadn't slept for a long time even by agent standards. Her short hair was spiked up, as if her hands had been repeatedly pushed up through it, and she breathed deeply as she leaned against a wall, her clothing not having been changed for a few days.
She locked the door of the office, and placed her hands over her face, drumming on her forehead with her fingers. This last week had been...informative, and her mind was running wild. Oracle was at war with the UIG. The UIG could track you by your chip. Oracle was related to that orb. Not to mention everything else...
Things were starting to click, but other bits of the puzzle were still a mystery. Also, she had run out of food. Thinking up and investigating conspiracy theories was best done on a full stomach. With that in mind, she cast one last look down the access to the lair of the two hackers, before heading towards the lift up.

Fenris lounged in her office, feet up on the desk. She was trying to teach herself more about droids, about how to use and control them, but it wasn't going that well. She kept getting distracted by the mysterious list she was given after the last mission, she couldn't figure out why the hell that Japanese guy gave it to her... But at least it was quiet here, Jun-Seo was nice and everything, but he did enjoy his screaming. Fenris sighed. She needed to take a break.
As she got up to get a drink, Fenris noticed a strange woman walking past her door, after a brief moment of puzzlement, she remembered about Oracle's newest Agent, and hurried out after her. "Hello? Amets, is it?"

Amets heard her name called behind her, and spun around quickly. Her bagged eyes focused on Fenris, and she nodded. "Agent Mitleider, correct?" she asked in her slightly strangely accented voice.

Fenris was looking a bit disheveled herself, between the baby, and trying to make sense of this message... "Yeah, though I go by Fenris now." It was odd that she now found it strange to be addressed by her actual name. "So how are you finding your new Corp? I'm guessing you've had the welcome package by now?"

Amets blinked slightly, before raising her hand. "Ich...kann sprachen nicht Deutsch?" she said, hestitantly. She was trained in several languages, but never German; Bright and Sunny used English, and if she needed to speak or translate other languages, she had very good translation software to do it for her, safely behind her computer.

Fenris paused, why hadn't Amets said anything when she first started talking? "Do you speak English?" While her English was good, it was clear that Fenris didn't use it very often, her voice heavily accented.

Amets nodded. "I do. I grew up in Europe, so I understand a bit of German, but my English is much better." She stuck out her hand to Fenris. "I've been examining the debriefing information for the Oracle missions so far. You appear to have managed some impressive things in your time here."

Fenris shrugged, taking the proffered hand. "When you can afford all the cybernetics and equipment you want you can do some pretty cool things, and decent training doesn't hurt either." She sounded fairly blase, "impressive" wasn't that uncommon in Oracle. "Besides, I'm not the only one who has pulled off some crazy shit! Speaking of which, what is it you do exactly? On missions I mean."

"I primarily provide intelligence support, however in field I tend to act as a computer and hacking specialist for the team." she said, giving Fenris a firm handshake before dropping her arm rigidly to her side. "I suspect my primary contributions to the team will be off the field, at least for a while."

"Hmm, we seem to have had a sudden influx of hackers recently... But I guess with Shinobu and Positron out of the picture now, we were running a little short." There was a brief pause. "So. What set up do you use? Do you have an internal computer yet?" She sounded genuinely interested, as if she were just getting into a new and exciting topic.

"No, not yet." said Amets, her face betraying a slight flicker of nervousness as Fenris mentioned the internal computer (P+L&A fail by 1), before snapping back to normal. "As for my preferred set up, I will admit that my years of using the Bright and Sunny mainframe have spoiled me somewhat, so I will likely set up a similar system for myself...once I have the credits. For field work..." she paused. "I've been in contact with Datanetica discussing the possibility of integrating hacking computers into sets of armor for field usage. They should have a mock up for me next week."

"...OK" Fenris was confused, and she was unable to hide it. She guessed Amets had a reason for not wanting an internal computer, but had no idea why she would be uncomfortable with the idea. (pass perception psychology by 4, and fail presence L&A by 6) "Doesn't that leave your computer a little... Exposed? I mean, it'd be safer in a briefcase, surely?"

"A briefcase is preferable, but the issue is mainly physically carrying the object, particularly when attempting to inflitrate by stealth. I'd prefer not to give away my position by it clanging against a wall." Amet's tone made it clear that similar issues had occurred before.

"Fair point, though if I've learned anything since joining, it's that Oracle always finds a way to ruin it's infiltration." Fenris had resigned herself to this fact a while ago. It seemed the only one who could do stealth properly was Shap, and he was a little too good at it nowadays. "I don't think I've been on a single mission where someone didn't give us away." She sighed. "So. On your way anywhere in particular, or just trying to get away from here?"

"Needed to get some air. I've spent the last week reading files." She paused. "Also I've run out of food. Which could be an issue."

"Why not just order more? You should try Bachmeier, they do pretty good food, it beats everything else I've found in Seoul. You did get the memorial package, right?" She should really remember to make sure people could actually afford things before she recommended decent quality products. "The mission reports do make for interesting reading though don't they? I probably would believe half of it if I hadn't seen the kind of shit we can pull off!"

"Interesting...yes, you could call it that. I must say, the reports I have heard of Oracle didn't do you justice." Amet's face stayed blank, not letting a hint of the fact that by that sentence she meant the reports had made the corporation sound a lot less batshit crazy than it was show. "Some of the other documents were interesting as well, but I'm sure you've already read those."

Fenris looked away, slightly awkwardly. "I.. Scanned a few things..." It had never really occurred to her to delve too deeply into Oracle, she knew everything she needed to get what she wanted out of the Corp, and the rest of it didn't bother her that much. "So... What did you find?"

Re: End of week 85: Vague references to discoveries.
Amets seemed obviously surprised at Fenris' deceleration. Who would join Oracle and not immediately try to find out as much as they could about it?
Well, other than Fenris. "It's mainly information on funding, that kind of thing. Though we do have a UIG replicant on staff..." she said, watching Fenris' reaction. It was all available to the other agent, but Fenris didn't seem willing to spend as much time on it as she did.

Re: End of week 85: Vague references to discoveries.
Fenris stared. A UIG replicant. After Oracle had just pissed them off. "Really? When did we get that?" She was obviously surprised by this news. "I've not seen it yet, so it must be new... But then, why would we trust a UIG replicant not to fuck us up now that we don't exclude them?" It just didn't make sense at all.

Re: End of week 85: Vague references to discoveries.
"Week 70 I believe, although ownership of her has been fully transferred to Oracle, and given the mission she lead, I don't believe her loyalties are still with her former employers." said Amets, sure the other agent could work out who she was referring to.

Re: End of week 85: Vague references to discoveries.
It took a moment for the penny to drop. "Oh, that fucking pigdog whore! Mieko's a fucking replicant!?A fucking replicant ordered my friend to commit fucking suicide? Fuck!" Fenris stopped and took a deep breath. "The bitch should have fucking told us! And this was just lying there? For anyone to read?"

Re: End of week 85: Vague references to discoveries.
Amets avoided taking a step away from the swearing agent, and instead simply nodded her head slightly robotically. "I thought this would have been common knowledge?" she asked, keeping eye contact with Fenris. "If you have access to the Oracle server, you can find the file..." she paused, realising that this may not be the best tactic here. "I take it you don't approve of her much?" she asked, levelly.

Re: End of week 85: Vague references to discoveries.
The Infiltrator still hadn't gotten over the fact that Meiko was a replicant, and that the information wasn't even hidden. "As if no-one thought to check that! Seriously! I'm pretty sure it's just you and me who know this!" She groaned in frustration, and just let it slide for now, but fuck... And no, I don't "approve" of anyone who would order my friends to take on a UIG Ranger!

Re: End of week 85: Vague references to discoveries.
Amets blinked as Fenris said that no one else knew this. Seriously? It was right there! Just sitting around!...of course, this indicated they haven't read the rest of the documents either, a factoid Amets filed away for later use.
"I see." she said levelly as the other agent smeakered. "I had read the report, but it was sparse on details...although I was surprised to hear Oracle had taken that kind of action against the UIG. I joined expecting to be at war with everyone but them."
