As the group packed up after the discussion on what to do with the results from the mission, Amets leaned over to Coraline. Her face had gone back to its blank mask, and her voice was considerably more quiet and polite than the one she had used on the mission. "Agent Carnell, could I speak to you briefly?" she asked.

"Certainly. A pleasure to meet you Agent Basamortu, sorry I didn't get to say so sooner. How can I help you?" Coraline said cheerfully, giving a small courtesy to the new agent. She seemed to be taking Amets' mercurial disposition changes in stride. The plague doctor had experience of fellow agents acting differently in mission. [pass L&A by 6]

Amets moved slightly away from the rest of the group, obviously wanting to speak to Coraline slightly more privately. "I wanted to apologise for yelling at you the way I did on the mission. I realise we both knew it was an act, but I wanted to ensure there was no ill blood between us due to it."

The french wasteland accented agent sounded slightly tired, and seemed to be worrying about something; her eyes, which normally locked into eye contact with whomever she was speaking to, were still darting to and through.

Coraline narrowed her eyes, tilted her head and blinked slowly at Amets. "No... ill blood?I've- I haven't heard that one before, no ill blood? I mean, no ill will, sure. Totally but no ill blood. Where is that even coming from" The EMP enthusiast tapped her foot in a rhythmic motion and waved her her hands emphatically. Then her expression instantly cleared and she snapped her fingers with a flourish "No bad blood, thats it!" Coraline smiled slightly too wide, leaning to the right and radiating awkwardness. Amets smiled slightly. "It appears I spoke improperly. Yes, I did mean to say that I hope there is no bad blood between us." There was still something else weird going on with her, Coraline could tell, but the cybernetists response appeared to put her more at ease.

Coraline waved a hand dismissively between them, "Not at all. You were great, saved us twice at the guard checkpoint. You're quick witted and resourceful, a great fit for Oracle." She smiled genuinely, compliments coming with ease. "Look forward to working with you in future. Was there anything else you wanted to ask me?" [L&A pass by 11]

Amets' smile grew slightly at the compliments. "Thank you for that."

She paused, and her smile left her face. "How do you deal with...with situations like what happened at the end of this mission. I know we were not the ones to detonate the d-cells...however, I still can't help but feel some level of blame for what occurred..." She seemed genuinely concerned about this matter.

Coraline paused to consider Amet's question, cupping her chin momentarily in her hand and frowning. "I am not sure to what you are referring. No one was hurt or died thanks to the security AI's warning, so you aren't concerned by the sanctity of life. The security AI itself perished alongside dozens if not hundreds of compressed... AI's. Its an unfortunate loss but drawing a comparison between purgatory and their existence is pretty apt and the security AI was complacent with Orion's abuses of its own kind.

Nevermind that it preferred to destroy the entire facility than risk, or accept, failure. So you shouldn't feel that bad about the artificial intelligences lost. Mass destruction of property comes down to muti-million cost for Orion. We're sort of in the business of costing the corporation's a lot of money.
" Coraline shrugged unapologetically, in the universal manner of someone saying 'you're going to get that,' before forging on.

"Which was Orion's responsibility to prevent. So they are as culpable for that as all of their malfunctioning AIs. Without which we would never be interested in them. As to potential fallout.... EI have dealt with it before and will do so again. Egg-u-like is cheap and readily available, not to mention that those who live here are, be definition, wealthy. They'll be fine. " Coraline paused for breath that she did not need and considered her response.

"So uh, to answer your question, by being rational about what has happened and also, mu." The verbose plague doctor spread her hands, again expressing that Amet's question was too vast to answer. "But thats me and if this is going to eat at you from inside then you need to find your own answer." Coraline stretched from the sheer awkwardness of her too long explanation.

Amets nodded, her face returning to its normal blankness. "I see. Thank you for that, Agent Carnell." (lying and acting pass by 1). She turned, and picked up her hacking computer in its briefcase from next to her chair. "If you need me, I will be in my office examining the data we obtained from the mainframe." She nodded her head to Coraline, and began to make her way out of the room.

In the privacy of her office, Amets read the news article. Then she swore rather loudly. First fucking mission.
