Vehicle Customization Empty Vehicle Customization

The vehicle design system needs a little bit of clarification to prevent small vehicles being much more heavily armoured than tanks. The source of the issue appears to be the anti-gravity units.

The text states that "The maximum DM a vehicle can have is triple its starting modifier or 3, which ever is higher"
From now on, this limit does not include other modifiers introduced by components such as armour which will lower the DM.

The book also does not provide a limit for the size of the shield a vehicle can be fitted with, which means some small vehicles are more shielded than tanks. From now on civilian vehicles have the following limits placed on them;
Bikes: 100
Cars: 150
Vans/SUVs: 175

If these changes affect a vehicle you own then you can be refunded the price and rebuild the vehicle to follow these rules without having to do anything in-character.

I think my vehicle just got a lot less awesome. Fair enough from a balance point of view though.

I'm not going to post the limits for military vehicles. That will be up to individuals to find out about.

Now that boats are making more of an appearance we need a system for them. A boat can carry a very large shield generator due to its size and ability to hold a lot of weight. However, a boat will not be protected close to the water line or below, so torpedoes, specially designed weapons and sharp shooting can get around them. The size of the boat controls how large a generator it can hold.

Civilian vessels
Boat (fishing boat, small yacht): 200
Ship (large yacht, freighter): 400
Large ship (large cargo transport): 600

Military vessels will have much higher shielding capacities, probably similar to cyberlin systems.

Vehicle Customization Empty Anti-Grav Motors

Post  Admin Tue Aug 20, 2013 12:30 pm

The Anti-Grav Motor from the Core Rules (Page 56) will now decrease the EMPS of a vehicle by 1 for each motor installed. This includes military vehicles.
