Uluru Spire

Post  Tansai Kay on Sat Mar 09, 2013 7:38 pm

In the heart of the Austrailian free state, where no Corporations dare to tread, there is a single Spire, a single tooth pointing at the heavens. Shielded from the sky by a satblanket, the crumbling monolith stands rules over the wasteland, drawing the strongest to it.

Even reaching the Spire is terrifyingly dangerous mission. The land around it is filled the most hideous monsters of the Free State, creatures out of a Gemini scientist's worst nightmare. Even the sky and land itself seems to be against you; great winds and hideous sandstorms threaten to fling you off the narrow paths between fissures, carved out by the weapons of the Corporations long ago. Those who have reached the spire have reported a tower of monsters, only getting stronger and stronger as you rise up.

But the situation has worsened now. The tower now has rulers, and the ones at the top of the world are lashing out in fear. You have been chosen. If you survive to reach the pinnacle of the tower, your rewards will be the richest the world has ever seen. But the chances of you surviving, even you, with all your powers and abilities, are slim.

Whether you come from agent, you must put aside your petty differences, or be buried under the tower's foundations.

Uluhu Spire is an extremely high level multi-corp campaign I have been tossing around ideas for. I won't be running it anytime soon, but this is just as a kind of taster for it. You can be from any corp, including ones currently without write up if you have ideas for them.

Each character gains 200 starting exp, and 50x the starting money for their Corporation. The enemies in there are equal in power, and it can be thought of as similar to tomb of horrors, but with slightly more plot. Would anyone be interested?

__________________________________________________________________________________
Players start at rank 4, and each of the major corps recieve bonuses as follows.
Ai Jinn: Alt-ID chip, -1 exp cost for close combat, and either the Clanger or the Guan Yu suit usage training for free.
Comoros: As in core book, they already get crazy bonuses.
EI: Get the field surgery training for free. Additionally, they receive 60x starting money to represent the expense account.
Shi Yukiro: No current change in bonuses from the core. Any ion weapons can be chosen.
Western Federation: Already has all the guns.

Other corps may be used of course. If the bonuses have been written down, use those (gemini, lanzas, ect), if not, we can house rule something, so Abassi Psi systems will get the telepath training and some kind of special weaponary, but won't get the -1 exp cost for telepathics and only recieve +5 TE at character gen.

Sounds like a cool idea, I'd be up for it.

By the way, you mean Uluru, not Uluhu, right?

A few more details.

All licenses must be paid for as usual. As this is a UIG sanctioned mission, Overrisk weapons may be carried.

Once the game begins, supplies will be tricky to come by, so things like the Survival, Jury Rigging and Ammo maker trainings would be useful.

Finally, crazily powerful combat monster characters are not just allowed, but expected. Other skills would be useful too, even social ones, but with the amount of exp you'll have, you should be ok.

I take it players are allowed any equipment or cybernetics they can afford. What about corp-specific things?

Also, are UIG playable?

UIG are not playable for various reasons. With regards to corp-specfic things, we are using the base bonuses given in the core book, rather than from the faction books, but unique items can be taken. Eg, Ai Jinn agents have full access to Guan Yu suits.

There are some exceptions for this though, for balance reasons. Ai Jinn players will get the -1 exp cost (minimum 1) to increase close combat given in Dragon Awoken, and I'll be giving EI players a small bonus as well since their expense accounts aren't that useful out in the wastes. SY may get a small bonus too, since WF and Comoros are so much more powerful at higher levels.
